Navy Vanity Bathroom Remodel

A bathroom taken down to cement board and finished with a navy vanity, gold fixtures, a glass walk-in shower and wood-look tile.

Down to cement board

This bathroom was fully gutted. The old finishes were gone and cement board was up on the walls, ready for tile. Cement board is the backer we want behind tile in wet areas, because it holds up to moisture where regular drywall would not.

Building it back up

From there we built the room back as a complete bathroom remodel. We put in a walk-in shower with a glass enclosure. Glass keeps the room open and lets light reach the back wall instead of stopping at a curtain.

For the floor we used a wood-look tile. It has the warm look of wood planks, and it is a better choice for a bathroom floor that gets wet every day.

The vanity is a navy cabinet with a marble top, and we paired it with gold fixtures. Dark blue and warm metal make a strong combination. Against the lighter tile, they give the room a clear focal point.

Where it ended up

Bare cement board became a finished bathroom. The navy vanity, gold faucet and hardware, glass walk-in shower and wood-look floor read as one design, not a set of separate upgrades.

This job is a good example of why we like to start a bathroom from a clean shell. With the walls opened up and new backer in place, the tile, the glass and the fixtures all go on a sound base. If your bathroom needs more than a cosmetic update, a gut and rebuild like this one is often the cleaner path.
